Pool Time & Heading to Reno

July 29th - August 2nd

We left Monday and headed to the Sacramento area.  We found a nice resort with a great pool.  We passed through lots of orchards and vegetable farms.  Bruce went to the produce market and got tomatoes, sweet corn, peaches, pears, watermelon, new potatoes, green beans and muskmelon.  We just went to the pool and vegged out for four days.  It was great!  Lots of good food!
Friday morning we left and headed for Reno.

Don't light a match.  This area is really dry!
Starting over the Sierra Nevada Mt's.  Lots of pine trees.

We struck rocks, no I think boulders.
We were about 7,000 ft. here

We are at 8,000 ft. The trees are having a hard time surviving up here.  Also, notice the snow poles along the hwy.

There can be a surprise around every curve.
I noticed this cave up on the side of the mountain.
Snow on the mountain
A survivor.
Coming out of the mountains down into the valley
The ground flattens out just before you enter Nevada.  There are a lot of cattle and hay in this area.  We drove through Carson City and then we started up again on our way to Reno.  We thought we would see lots of trees but Reno is almost desert like.  Checked into the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino.  Right now the Big Bear Express is getting a much needed bath!
