Toppenish and the Columbia River Gorge

July 10

We found out that Toppenish has a program where the second week end in June a group of western artists get together and paint an historically correct mural of the history of the area.  There are 72 murals now on all kinds of buildings and they have had to build 3 walls because they are running out of buildings.  So we got up this morning and went to see some of the murals before we left.

After we looked at the murals we packed up and headed south.
Heading into the Columbia River Gorge.  Windmills are all over on both sides of the river.
You see lots of produce farms, vineyards and fruit trees down along the river.
It's really windy along the river so there are lots of wind surfers and kite surfers.
They are not overly generous with road space.  Sometimes the rocks take up part of the road.

I loved looking at Mt. Hood!  Can you tell.

When we got to Portland, OR we turned north and headed for Mt. St. Helen's.
Good day.
